Why did I start this Website?

Four years since I graduated high school…

Four years since I’ve written anything for myself personally (outside of essay and assignments for college classes)…

Four years since I ever imagined myself writing again…

As the school bell rang and students rushed out in a frenzy signifying the end of the school year–excited for the summer and all the hopes and dreams that came along with it–I knew I had to make a choice.

I was a senior in high school.

And it was time to choose what I wanted to study in college.

Just kidding. I graduated high school in 2020 (the Covid Year for those unfamiliar), so I never had a proper “last day of school.” Although, I did end up figuring out my major in college, it ended up being totally unrelated to my extracurriculars in high school (I received a BBA in Management Information Systems).

When I was in high school:

  • I was in yearbook/journalism for 3 years (served as Newspaper Editor for 2 of those years)
  • When I was 16, I attended a journalism workshop at Texas A&M and received an award for best newspaper piece
  • My senior year of high school, I edited and submitted that same column piece to Scholastic Awards and won a silver medal on the National Level
  • I also won multiple gold and silver keys from Scholastic awards at the Harris County/regional level for poetry pieces I wrote

Now, I’m not saying this to brag, just to give you a baseline for where I’m coming from. Once I graduated high school, I pursued a career in IT/Technology and never looked back. These days, I work as an IT analyst in the corporate world.

Genuinely, once I graduated high school, I never saw myself writing again.

This website was created with the intent to restart my passion for journalism and writing and to challenge myself creatively. This website is not something super technical nor did it require high skilled development, it’s a WordPress-based website using the Elementor-Pro plugin. In other words, it’s simply an every day, hobby website (that anyone can do), made out of love, passion, and joy.

There is no shame in climbing up a mountain, going back down, or going sideways. In the end, you’ll learn something new about yourself (or, in my case, reconnect with something I care about).

Is there a passion or interest (new or former) that you want to learn for yourself? Let me know in the comments below!

Newspaper Excellence Award I won in 2018 from the Balfour Workshop held at Texas A&M University
